How to lodge financial reports with ASIC Form 388

Source review: 2026-11-06. General procedural information, not legal or tax advice. Check the linked ASIC instructions before lodging; forms, fees and portal screens can change.

    Before you start

    • Assess the company’s reporting classification and exemptions under ASIC’s financial-reporting guidance.
    • Prepare the required financial report, directors’ report and auditor’s report where applicable.
    • Confirm the deadline for the specific reporting entity; do not assume all companies use one date.

    How to complete the process

    • Read ASIC INFO 31 and the current Form 388 instructions.
    • Confirm whether lodgement is direct to ASIC or through a market operator under an applicable arrangement.
    • Complete the relevant transaction and attach the required reports.
    • Review, lodge by the applicable deadline and retain the receipt and submitted reports.

    After lodgement or completion

    • Check ASIC acceptance and keep the filed versions in the governance records.

    Important limits and exceptions

Not every small proprietary company must lodge annual financial reports. Sustainability reports, where required, use Form 398; where one annual report contains both, ASIC requires both 388 and 398 transactions with the report attached.

    Keeping the company record complete

Keep approvals, consents, submitted documents and lodgement receipts with the entity record. EntityFlo can help organise records and supported workflows; guidance about a form does not mean EntityFlo supports direct lodgement of that form. Website FloSec cannot sign, lodge or access your private company records.
