How to apply for ASIC reinstatement of a deregistered company

Source review: 2026-11-06. General procedural information, not legal or tax advice. Check the linked ASIC instructions before lodging; forms, fees and portal screens can change.

    Before you start

    • Establish why and when the company was deregistered and why reinstatement is sought.
    • Collect evidence supporting eligibility, the applicant’s position and the grounds for reinstatement.

    How to complete the process

    • Read the current Form 581 instructions and assess the administrative pathway.
    • Prepare the application with supporting grounds and evidence and follow the current signed-PDF channel where permitted.
    • Check current fees and any outstanding amounts before submitting.
    • Await ASIC’s assessment and confirm the register status before acting as though the company has been restored.

    After lodgement or completion

    • After reinstatement, review officers, company details, assets and ongoing obligations with an adviser.

    Important limits and exceptions

Reinstatement is not automatic. ASIC’s Form 581 page says it will not administratively reinstate a company wound up by a liquidator before deregistration; a court route may be needed.

    Keeping the company record complete

Keep approvals, consents, submitted documents and lodgement receipts with the entity record. EntityFlo can help organise records and supported workflows; guidance about a form does not mean EntityFlo supports direct lodgement of that form. Website FloSec cannot sign, lodge or access your private company records.
