How to appoint or cease an ASIC registered agent

Source review: 2026-11-06. General procedural information, not legal or tax advice. Check the linked ASIC instructions before lodging; forms, fees and portal screens can change.

    Before you start

    • Agree the appointment or cessation with an authorised company officer.
    • Confirm the agent’s details, number and the scope of authority.

    How to complete the process

    • Read the current Form 362 instructions.
    • Use the company officeholder or registered-agent portal, or the current permitted downloadable postal route.
    • Enter the company and nomination or cessation details and make the required declaration.
    • Submit and keep the company’s authority and lodgement record.

    After lodgement or completion

    • Check the company’s contact and agent arrangements and ensure correspondence reaches the right people.

    Important limits and exceptions

ASIC describes the downloadable Form 362 as combined with Form 486. Agent registration and appointment to act for a specific company are separate steps; do not assume a portal account grants authority over every company.

    Keeping the company record complete

Keep approvals, consents, submitted documents and lodgement receipts with the entity record. EntityFlo can help organise records and supported workflows; guidance about a form does not mean EntityFlo supports direct lodgement of that form. Website FloSec cannot sign, lodge or access your private company records.
